Locate socket

Prepare Socket

The MC6888X

When the socket is adequately prepared, you have to locate pin 11 on the FPU itself. Find the dot on the FPU and hold it so the dot points away from you. The dot marks pin 1. Count counter clockwise and you'll find pin 11 as the second pin on the left side of the chip.

Black wire

Then it's time for you to solder the black wire to pin 7 on the quartz. This wire must then be soldered to a grounding point. There are several to choose from, but you can use the negative-pole of C147, the large electrolytic capacitor (4700uF) situated close to the internal power-connector.
