Hi,

All this talk about nova cards and GEM games got me thinking.
As blitting from one area to another on the screen is very
fast and blitting from memory is skpw because of the low
bandwith of the bus. So if the data could be stored in the
memory on the gfx card but of screen it would be much faster.

So my idea is if you use a res that doesn't take upp all the
video RAM on the Nova card wouldn't it be possible to store the
sprites etc. in that memory location on the Nova card? That way
you wouldn't need to blit the sprite from memory, but just from
one area (hided on the Nova as it's not on the memroy area
which is being displayed) to another on the Nova card?

Do you understand what I mean? I would like to use the
remaining memroy on the Nova card which isn't used to store
the sprites. Possible?

:-)

Just a crazy idea.... I know that there is a program for the ET4000
project for the MegaST to use the memory on the gfx card as extended
memory. The question is if the Nova card can do what I want it to.
Saving the sprites on the Nova card offscreen would probably work,
but I wonder if the Nova card would allow me for using it to blit to
screen memory.

Offscreen bitmaps! :-)
