Sounds like the DMA buffer-mod...

Try removing the FPU, it might have a negative effect on the
clock-signal. But this would normally be very subtle, nothing like the
problem you describe.
When I come to think of it, Doug advised me to remove the FPU as well
as the orange wire on the AB buffer-card to improve stability.

Aha! I had the same problem when I fitted the Afterburner to my
Nemesis'ed Falcon. It wouldn't boot at all (just a black screen) until
I installed the inductor/resistor mod. I'm 99% sure that this is your
problem as well. The description of this mod can be found somewhere on
Titan/BSS/Doug Little's homepages.

That's a unfortunate side-effect of the Nemesis buffer-mod, what works
fine in 030-mode doesn't work at all in AB-mode and vice-versa...
