I have some sources here that does such things, I believe I got them from
Magnus who got them from CI.

And yes, there's nothing wrong with changing resolutions in a
AES-application as long as you...

1. ...lock the AES while you're in the new resolution. VDI will still
   work.
2. ...restore the original resolution when you exit.
