I had that problem (only a bit worse, since it was actually impossible to get
both of the connectors to 'catch' at the same time (a misalignment of the AB040
through-connector)) when I tried to install my Eclipse.
Try getting hold of some 'spacer' connections to elevate the NOVA from the AB040.
I think those flat-cable type board connectors usually come with long enough legs
to make 'stacking' possible. That's what I have now and it works very well.
