Re: SCSI errors

I have a heavily loaded SCSI bus and have experienced SCSI errors, sometimes
in big bunches. My chain includes a 1gb, 3.2 gb, 270 mb Syquest, 2 gb SCSI
tape and a flatbed scanner. The errors occur if I write heavily to a
partition, for example, the cache directoris of CAB. I have seen upwards of
10,000 errors after a heavy session. I have moved the cache to a quiet
partition which changes infrequently and is therefore easy to restore to
working order. I'm using HDD 7.5 and TK 5.07. On someone's advice I
stopped using DMASNOOP and the errors have decreased, although that may be a
coincidence.

I can probably cold boot 95+% of the time. One new problem that had cropped
up recently is the Falcon will sometimes boot to a large mono blank desktop,
even though nothing in the AUTO folder has bombed. A reset usually cures
this the first time.

I don't know if this is related to my AB/Nemesis setup but under Magic
5/Thing 1.27 applications will often abort on startup with the message,
"program has caused basic error". The author of Thing says that's a memory
related error but that never happens under Magic/Ease or Geneva/Neodesk. I
have 4 mb ST and 64 mb TT ram and a Nova installed which I rarely use. Any
offers on the Nova?
